Biography

Małgorzata Rocławska was born in Wejherowo, Poland.
She began her musical education at the Frederic Chopin Music School in her hometown at the age of 6. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Singing at the Stanisław Moniuszko Music Academy in the class of Professor Ryszard Minkiewicz. In 2016, as part of the Erasmus programme, the young soprano moved to Stuttgart to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts and began her master's in opera studies with Carmen Mammoser. From October 2018, she continued her vocal education under the tutelage of Professor Ulrike Sonntag and graduated her studies in 2021.
In addition to her studies, she has been regularly invited to attend masterclasses conducted by world class experts such as Elly Ameling, Barbara Frittoli, Bo Skovhus, Angela Denoke, Margreet Honig, Marcel Boone, Helena Lazarska and Matjaz Robavs.
Małgorzata Rocławska has gained further concert experience in cooperation with various orchestras, including: Elbipolis Baroque Orchestra Hamburg; Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra Reutlingen; Orchestra of the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk; Symphony Orchestra of Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk; Chamber Orchestra "Sinfonietta Pomerania"; Chamber Orchestra of the Coronation Tribunal in Lublin; the Polish Chamber Orchestra Sopot; Chamber Orchestra Capella Bydgostiensis; and Chamber Orchestra Sinfonia Nordica Gdynia.
The young soprano has already worked with various outstanding conductors such as Rasmus Baumann; Rolf Beck; Kai Bumann; Christian Capocaccia; Richard Wien; Tadeusz Kozłowski, Marek Rocławski and Przemysław Stanisławski.
Her discography includes a CD with music by the Gdańsk composer Andrzej Dziadek (Stabat Mater for soprano and string orchestra); Renaissance madrigals by Bernardino Borlasca; Mahler's 2nd Symphony (live recording); and the Christmas CD “Wśród ciszy” with Polish Christmas carols for choir, strings and soprano. Since the 2021/2022 season, she is an ensemble member of the Schleswig-Holstenisches Landestheater and Sinfonieorchester, where she made her debut as Pamina in Mozart's The Magic Flute, as Romilda in Handel's Xerxes and Marie in Smetana's Bartered Bride among others.
As a soloist, Małgorzata Rocławska has already taken on numerous concert repertoire including Verdi’s Requiem; Mahler’s Symphony No. 2; Handel’s Messiah and Belshazzar; Rossini’s Petite Messe solenelle; W.A. Mozart’s Coronation Mass; A. Honegger’s Le Roi David; and J. Rutter’s Magnificat.
In June 2018, she performed the role of Greta Fiorentino in Kurt Weill's opera "Street Scene" (Director: Bernd Mottl, Conductor: Bernhard Epstein) at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart. In January 2019, she made her debut as Fiordiligi in “Cosi fan tutte” by W.A. Mozart (Director: Olivier Tambosi, Conductor: Bernhard Epstein) and few months later as Elisabeth Zimmer in Henze's “Elegie für Junge Liebende“ (Director: Kornelia Repschläger, Director: Bernhard Epstein) in the same theater.
In October 2020, Małgorzata Rocławska together with the pianist Olga Wien won the 2nd Prize in the 12th Hugo Wolf International Art Song Competition, Stuttgart. Two months later, she was a finalist of the 49th Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin. Furthermore, Małgorzata Rocławska is a member and a scholarship holder of the International Choir Academy Lübeck.
